Jenny Ferns was born in England shortly after World War II and spent her formative years there before later moving to Canada and then the United States.
She graduated from Keele University with a joint honors degree in Biology and Psychology. Over the years, her professional life has been wide-ranging and deeply connected to both science and human experience. She worked as a biologist, taught high school, and also traveled in Europe while working as a film production secretary.
Jenny worked with her naturalist mentor Gerald Durrell and the Wildlife Preservation Trust Canada. She later earned a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology and maintained a private counseling practice with a focus on alcoholism, trauma, family violence, and post-traumatic stress.
Her life experience has strongly influenced her writing. Themes of resilience, emotional truth, healing, family bonds, and the long shadows cast by history appear throughout her work.
In addition to writing, Jenny is a master gardener and plant enthusiast. She lives in Florida with her husband and their miniature schnauzer, and enjoys gardening, reading, and time with family.
